SEIU LOCAL 1000 ANNOUNCES…EXPANDED PROGRAM
IT SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR 2008SEIU Local 1000 has developed an educational program to help meet the training needs of the state’s IT workforce.
Local 1000 established these scholarships in response to the requests of IT professionals. Originally the program only applied to classes taken at California community colleges. Based on feedback from IT professionals, the program now includes classes taken through the UC and CSU extension programs.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA- ITs who take classes at community colleges will be reimbursed for fees of $20.00 per unit, up to three classes per semester. ITs who take classes through the CSU and UC extension programs will be reimbursed $150.00 per semester.
- Employees are reimbursed after providing proof of successful completion of the class.
- Scholarships are awarded on a first come basis, with a maximum of 100 scholarships allocated each semester.
- This program is only available to SEIU Local 1000 members in IT classifications.
- Classes must be directly related to information technology, such as network development, web design, systems security or telecommunications.
PROCESS TO APPLY FOR REIMBURSEMENTPlease complete the application form below. All categories must be completed unless noted otherwise. Your application must be received no later than 30 days after start of the semester.
Upon receipt of your application, a scholarship will be held in your name. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come basis. You’ll be notified by email if you have been awarded a scholarship for reimbursement.
If you are a non-member, you must include a completed membership application.
PROCESS TO RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENTYou’ll be reimbursed after submitting proof of successfully completing the class. You must have a grade of C or better or a “pass.” Download and print an unofficial transcript of your grade and send it to the address listed below. The deadline for submitting a request for reimbursement is 30 days after completion of the class.
