You Can Help Save Employment Services
Take Action TodayThe Bush Administration is proposing the elimination of funding for employment services programs. Now is the time for all EDD employees to act. Please send a letter to the Congressional leaders, Senator and ask them to oppose the proposed cuts and to restore workforce system funding to 2005 levels. Funding for employment services depends on your help.
Local 1000 along with other Locals and the International, are sending letters to Chairman Obey of the Committee on Appropriations asking him to oppose the President Bush’s proposed elimination of funding for employment services.
“The bottom line is any decrease in employment services and WIA funding will mean services to hundreds of thousands of California’s disenfranchised job seekers will be severely curtailed and or eliminated,” Jim Hard, SEIU Local 1000 president and Employee Program Representative.
Send an email to Senators Tom Harkin and Arlen Spector - Chairman and Ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee - and to Congressmen David Obey and James Walsh - Chairman and ranking member of the House Appropriations committee. Tell them to protect funding for employment services.
