Walker: Governor's furlough order "failed leadership"
Local 1000 President Yvonne Walker called Gov. Schwarzenegger's newest furlough order another example of his failed leadership and said, "He is unable to provide the leadership necessary to work out a compromise solution to the state's budget crisis."
Walker said that our bargaining team will remain at the table and continue pushing hard for our comprehensive settlement proposal--a proposal that will save the state hundreds of millions of dollars, while addressing members' salary, benefit and job security.
In addition, Local 1000 attorneys are exploring all legal options in regard to the governor's new furlough order.
More than 20,000 members have participated in hundreds of actions in support of our bargaining team's efforts. Local 1000 attorneys have cited members' actions as a key in a Superior Court judge's decision to block implementation of the governor's minimum wage order.
