What is Political Power?
Back to Home
What is political power and how does our union shape its program around building political power?
We endorse candidates that have shown a commitment to standing up for public workers.
We raise resources and mobilize members to help elect our endorsed candidates and send a message to politicians that their success or failure depends on SEIU.
We visit legislators in their district and in the capitol to inform them about issues important to the members of Local 1000. We encourage them keep stand up for the interests of state workers and Californians.
Our policy positions are reinforced by a team of researchers and policy analysts who provide credible information useful to politicians and supportive of state services.
We train members to tell their own stories to politicians, to the media and at public hearings in ways that re-enforce our message of standing up for state workers and services
