Unit 14 Alert: Bargaining Update – May 16

Article

Today, our team went to the table for the second time this week to negotiate with state representatives over our unit specific issues.  The governor’s Budget May Revise was released on Tuesday, May 14, which made it clear that our contract fight will remain an uphill battle. It is crucial that we stand together for a fair and secure contract. Worksite actions are happening up and down California to show state representatives that our members support their bargaining team.

We are also encouraging all of our members to RSVP for the June 5 “I’m All In!” rally at the Capitol – an action that will tell everyone that we are all in for Local 1000, all in for a fair contract and all in for quality public services for Californians.

The Unit 14 bargaining team – representing Printing Trade Workers - signed two tentative agreements today.

The first would create a Joint Labor/Management Committee on the future of printing trades at OSP, and the second would provide five more days of extra notice on shift changes.

In addition, we presented a proposal, which would take overtime grievances straight to CalHR.
We also received a commitment from the Department to provide ergonomic training and they gave us the number of the Health and Safety officer for DGS.
The bargaining team will return to the table Saturday, May 18.
In Solidarity,
