Nurses: Evaluate your boss

A message from Nancy Lyerla, chair of bargaining unit 17

State Registered Nurses have received evaluations from supervisors for years, and now the tables are turned--it's time for some state nurses to evaluate their bosses.

The results of this online survey will be sent to union staff to help us track the performance of supervisors from around the state. We will use the data while omitting names of reviewers. We hope this information will help track the facilities and supervisors who do well or need improvement. It is important that your answers are honest and clear.

Receiver's meeting recap (Unit 17)

A message from Nancy Lyerla, chair of bargaining unit 17

A meeting was held at the Receiver Nursing Executive's office on May 13. Present at the meeting was the Receiver, the Executive Nurses and others from the office, along with Bargaining Unit 20 Chair Rionna Jones, myself (chair of Unit 17) and four other Local 1000 members and staff.

In my opinion, this meeting was a direct result of the 'Vote of no Confidence' Petitions we sent to the Receiver, the Executive Nurses, members of the Legislature and others in the administration.

Calling all nurses: your vote matters

Your Vote MattersA message from Nancy Lyerla, chair of bargaining unit 17

2010 is an important election year for all state workers. The Unit 17 bargaining team urges all nurses to register to vote and help elect a new governor and state legislators who respect state services and state employees.

New lawsuit seeks to overturn illegal 'self directed' furloughs

gavel_with_scales.jpgA new Local 1000 legal action seeks to force the state to pay full wages to state workers on so-called "self-directed furloughs," including employees of 24-hour care facilities and the Employment Development Department.
