The Unit 4 Program Technician (PT) Committee met with the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) on September 13 to begin the process of evaluating and updating the PT Classification Series so that it accurately reflects the work being done by Local 1000 members.
During the meeting, the committee presented their goals to the CalHR representative and discussed the possibility of conducting interviews and desk audits. "We need to know how a classification change would impact our members," said Margarita Maldonado, vice president for bargaining. "We will keep the Program Technicians we represent updated as the evaluation process moves forward."
As we begin to move forward with the Program Technician Classification Review, your Program Technician Committee is assembling a Program Technician Strategic Planning Team, which will represent various geographic area and departments.
Program Technicians need to start building communication networks so we can all be involved in the statewide Program Technician Classification Review.
All Program Technicians need to be involved to produce a quality classification review that needs to take place in order for Program Technicians to be recognized for the quality work we provide each of our department programs throughout the state of California providing residents of California the quality services they deserve.
Check back for more updates on the Unit 4 web page
as our meetings with CalHR continue.
