Why SEIU is at the convention

Service Employees International Union (SEIU)—the fastest-growing union in the country—is at the Democratic National Convention, representing the interests and concerns of men and women who get up and go to work every day. As both a host committee member and an official Convention sponsor, SEIU is making sure that delegates and candidates understand that justice for all means quality, affordable health care for every man, woman and child in America; economic fairness; and freedom at work for all working families.

Last night SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger and homecare worker Pauline Beck addressed the Democratic Convention to keep the focus on the issues at stake for working families this election. Burger talked about Obama’s long record of standing with working families and why working people are uniting behind him in 2008 and Beck discussed the day Barack Obama spent working on the job with her last fall.
