Latin@ Committee

This group is responsible for the review of policies and programs established by the state directly impacting Latino and Latina members of Local 1000. Additionally, the Committee is looking to expand its outreach to its members by hosting regional meetings and functions that will bring in Latino/a members, the Latino community and supporters of Latino issues. Honoring Our Families Immigration Story

In these days of great debate throughout the country on immigration, we would like to ask our members to reflect a little and think about their family’s own journey to this country. We want to provide you, as an SEIU Local 1000 member, an opportunity to celebrate your family’s immigration story.

Hispanic Heritage Month
Local 1000 Latin@ Committee building a bridge between past and future

Each year, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, but for our Local 1000 Latin@ Committee, recognizing our rich Latino heritage is part of their mission statement as they work to build a bridge between the past and the future of our brothers and sisters.

“The historic achievements of Latino leaders past and present is a template for the work of our committee and reminds us that we have more work to do,” said Miguel Cordova, committee chair.

Regional Activity & Support Request Information/Form

The Latin@ Committee is looking for members across the state who are willing to organize events and activities on issues of interest to the Latin@ community. The goal is to create opportunities for our members to become active in Local 1000 through our focus on the Latin@ community. We are looking for activities that are not focused solely on sponsorship, but rather on engaging our members to serve active roles.
