2020 Election

Overview

2020 Election Program

At SEIU Local 1000, we often say ‘Politics Matter’ because they do. When we say politics, we aren’t just referring to a candidate or an election — we’re discussing everything from the water we drink and the roads we drive on to the communities we live in and the air we breathe. That’s why our 2020 Election Program is centered on our value. In this election, we will be challenging our co-workers, our families, our communities, and all of our political candidates to find ways to build a California for all of us.

We will be taking action to restore funding to our schools and communities, to ensure all of the candidates have a real plan to support working people and state workers, and to ensure our members have opportunities to take action on the issues that matter most to them.

2020 Endorsements

SEIU California represents 700,000 unionized workers, and together we speak as one collective voice that believes in investing in the next generation to help create a California for All.

With so much at stake in this election, this is an opportunity for us to exert our voice and endorse candidates who will fight for our communities, livable wages, and the right to form a union.

At Local 1000, our purpose is to have the power necessary to give our members—and all Californians—the opportunity to have a good life, live in sustainable communities and enjoy the fruits of social, economic and environmental justice.

Our members have pledged to take a big step forward in that purpose by gathering signatures for the Schools and Communities First Initiative.

Building the power necessary to create a California for All

2020 is a hugely important election year for unions, the working class, and the communities in which we live and work. We often say that “politics matter” because they do. It’s more than a candidate or election; we’re fighting to improve our quality of life, from the water we drink and the air we breathe to better schools and vital local services. Standing together, we can make change!
