FTB Notice of Updated Telework Policy and Update to Remote Work Plan- Phase 3
Meet and Confer Update

Announcement

On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, our Union met with the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) to meet and confer on FTB’s notice to the updated Telework Policy as well as the most recent update to Phase 3 of the Return to Office Plan. Phase 3 of the Return to Office Plan is presently set to begin September 6, 2022, where FTB employees who are currently teleworking and in the office one (1) day a week will be required to be in the office a total of two (2) days a week.

We used this meeting to address both concerns that FTB staff have raised regarding the updated Telework Policy as well as the Return to Office Plan update, as they are directly related. In terms of the Telework Policy, we raised concerns related to how the Department is equipped to support teleworking employees and which FTB employees are eligible to telework. We are awaiting additional information from the Department on these issues that will be discussed further at later meetings.

Our Union continues to push for FTB to prioritize employees’ health and safety above all other factors and encourages all FTB employees who believe they are eligible to telework to request to do so.

Our Union will continue to meet with FTB on these issues. If you are concerned about you and your coworker’s health and safety in returning to the office and/or how FTB is equipping employees to telework, please contact the SEIU Local 1000 Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866.471.SEIU (7348).
