As a result of our statewide DLC Tour, I am again reporting about the last two weeks of events at SEIU Local 1000. Federal Loan Forgiveness Program Offering Relief for Student Loans
A one-time limited waiver offer may offer additional benefits
Many state workers have pursued careers in public service after an expensive college education, while many more of you are going to school while working full time. Senator Pan Stands with Local 1000, Creates Essential State Workers Day
Dr. Richard Pan—state Senator and long-time ally of Local 1000—recognized our contributions to California in the form of Senate Resolution No. 100 – Essential State Workers Day (August 8, 2022).
In his comments made while introducing the resolution earlier this month, Dr. Pan recognized state workers for keeping California moving forward, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also recognized the 9 percent pay cut we endured for a year and how we continued to serve the citizens of California.
Real Representation: Contract Enforcement is a Union Priority
Our contract is a hard-won document that protects our wages, benefits, and working conditions, and also includes hundreds of articles that govern how we do our work, schedule our leaves, and interact with our supervisors.
When we stand up and stand together against violations of those rules, we receive the full benefit of the contract we all worked so hard to win.
New members Joining Local 1000 During our Statewide DLC Tour
Across California, state employees are stepping up to join Local 1000 because they see we can’t win a good contract next year unless we project membership power.
Our Local 1000 statewide leaders are meeting with represented employees where they work to talk about the importance of membership in our union and how a strong membership will impact contract negotiations that are less than a year away.
