White Supremacy Forum
Local 1000 is initiating an ongoing discussion series of current events/issues the world we live in. The topic for the first event is “An Honest and Overdue Discussion about White Supremacy.” The event will be centered on the concepts in Ahjamu Umi’s recently released book “The Paradox Principles.”
Ahjamu Umi is an organizer/representative at Local 1000 who has been doing anti-racist work fighting against white supremacy for decades.There will be a short, interactive presentation followed by a discussion on the following concepts from his book:
- How to be an effective accomplice against white supremacy
- Why it’s important to listen to colonized voices — people of color
- The critical importance of respecting women in leadership roles in movements for justice
