Nurses self care Classes
Sponsored by UCLA-LOSH and the Nurses Alliance of SEIU California

Event

SEIU Local 1000 is sharing the following information on classes sponsored by UCLA-LOSH and the Nurses Alliance of SEIU California which you may find of interest.

While we continue to face surges in COVID-19 cases with shortages of beds for those who are hospitalized, California’s Aerosol Transmissible Disease (ATD) standard continues to protect nurses and health care workers from the NOVEL COVID-19 virus. Cal/OSHA is enforcing the standards, vaccines are in our near future, and there are new emergency, temporary standard for other workers.

The Cal/OSHA Aerosol Transmissible Disease (ATD) Standard is an enforceable regulation that applies in health care, corrections, and other high-risk environments.

This class will discuss the scientific basis for the ATD Standard and highlight specific provisions of the regulation—including infection control planning; use of masks, respirators, and other personal protective equipment; airborne infection isolation; post exposure measures, filing Cal/OSHA complaints; and medical screening procedures. The class will emphasize how nurses and health care workers can use these regulations to secure protections against COVID-19 and other infectious disease hazards in their facilities.

Also included in the class will be updated material on enforcement, COVID-19 vaccines, the planned roll out in California, the new emergency, temporary standard for non-health care workers, and addressing vaccine mandates.

Classes are open to all SEIU members and invited guests. The course is free, but registration is required to reserve your space. 2 CEUs are available to all licensed nurses (RN/LVN).
