Member Dues
How your dues dollar works for you
SEIU Local 1000 monthly dues support everything our union does. From the negotiation and enforcement of our contract to political and legislative work, legal action, research, and communications—-your dues are spent solely on union efforts and actions.
Member dues are 1.5% of gross salary and are capped at $90/month. If you have questions about your dues please contact our Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866.471.7348
Representation Policy
13.0.01 Representation Rights and Limitations
(a) Local 1000 will provide representation, within the limitations set forth in this Policy File, to state/represented employees based upon their status as follows:
Contract
Our contract is a living document that governs our wages, benefits and working conditions. It contains hundreds of articles that regulate virtually every aspect of the work we do for the state.
This document protects our rights as state workers. It’s negotiated by our member-led bargaining team and won through the support of the 96,000 people represented by Local 1000.

Policy FAQ
SEIU Local 1000 provides member representation in contract violations, disciplinary appeals, AWOL cases, as well as other statutory appeals to the State Personnel Board and CalHR. The Union will follow its Representation Policy, including a case review process which is available on its website.
In contrast, SEIU Local 1000 provides nonmember representation in only those areas required by law. This is generally considered contractual representation, such as grievances and arbitration.
