We’re Stronger Together!

In less than a year, we’ll be bargaining a new contract. And as you know, when we’re stronger in the worksite, we’re stronger at the bargaining table. One of the ways we demonstrate strength is by Purpling Up in our worksites. It’s something we can all do whether we’re working from home, the office, or both.

2021 Year in Review: Bargaining Team Elected
More than 60 fellow members elected to bargain a great contract in 2023

On December 11 & 12, 2021, Local 1000 bargaining representatives from across the state met at a virtual gathering of the Statewide Bargaining Advisory Committee (SBAC) in order to elect the new bargaining teams. In all, we elected more than 60 Local 1000 members to comprise the 10 different Bargaining Unit Negotiating Committees (BUNCs) that will represent SEIU Local 1000 when we bargain our next contract in 2023.

2021 Year in Review: Transparency and Openness a Hallmark of Richard Louis Brown’s Presidency

Under the leadership of President Richard Louis Brown, Local 1000 has become a more transparent labor union, fulfilling a key portion of his 10-point campaign platform as part of his commitment to all 100,000 of the employees we represent.

Here are some examples of what has, and is, being done to make Local 1000 more transparent:

A fully open website: On his first day in office, President Brown removed the member-only access and made every page accessible to everyone.

Members vote to ratify new contract!

State Bar members have voted overwhelmingly to ratify the tentative contract agreement. 96.8% of the participating members in the Attorney Unit and 94.3% of the members General Unit cast “yes” votes in favor of ratification.

Thank you for voting, and thanks to the Bargaining Committee for their hard work in negotiating our new contract!

The Board of Trustees will vote to approve the Tentative Agreement at their next meeting on December 22nd. After approval, the new Tentative Agreement is expected to go into effect January 1, 2023.
