Another first—this time the first public sector IT apprenticeship program with a networking focus, also launched in 2017. Since then, Local 1000 has worked to further develop IT apprenticeship opportunities for our members. We added a help desk/client services focus to expand our initial apprenticeship.

With a mind toward fulfilling our purpose statement and giving all members the opportunity to have a good life, live in sustainable communities and enjoy the fruits of social, economic and environmental justice our union has worked to create new and innovative apprentice program opportunities.

Yet another breakthrough for the professional development of our members – the first public sector financial services (FS) apprenticeship program with concentrations in auditing and accounting. This program is a collaborative effort between Local 1000, American River College, and Government Operations Agency, and several state departments.
