New Employees at the State of California
Congrats on your union job! Welcome to your union family!
Below is an overview of how to get started as a new employee, represented by SEIU Local 1000.
1. Let’s meet!
Our SEIU Local 1000 Contract provides us time to meet and orient you to our union. If you have not had an orientation with our union yet, you can sign up for a union orientation.
Membership means a stronger voice for better pay, better benefits, and better working conditions!
- The higher our membership, the more power we have at the
bargaining table, and the better our chances of winning a good
contract. The power of our union is in its numbers.
- Only members have a vote in choosing who runs the union,
whether we go on strike, and whether or not to ratify a contract
or increase dues.
- Members are eligible for many benefits, including scholarship awards, legal and financial services, health savings, discounts, and coupons. Click here to learn more.
Thank Your Union!
If you’re not yet a member, click here to join SEIU Local 1000 today. Strong union membership is key to raising income levels, providing benefits such as retirement security and health insurance, and giving workers a voice when it comes to negotiating and enforcing our contracts.
