2023 Contract Campaign Underway: Bargaining Team Meets this Weekend

Our Statewide Bargaining Advisory Committee (SBAC) will be meeting this Saturday, May 14, and Sunday May 15, to receive collective bargaining training and meet with their respective bargaining units to begin planning for negotiations with the State in 2023.

Stewards lead the way doing real representation

When our members find themselves facing conflict in the workplace over contract language, their first line of defense is their Job Steward. Across the state, more than 800 SEIU Local 1000 members have stepped up to act in the role of advocate for their coworkers – receiving regular and thorough training in our contract and the codes and regulations that protect our rights and working conditions.

IT Reclass Update – Payments are Still in Progress

If you are one of the IT workers who received a mailing last fall about your eligibility for an IT Reclass settlement payment and you timely submitted the releases necessary for payment, please be assured that payments are still on the way.  Unfortunately, the State Controller payment process is slower than expected, but we understand that the State is still progressing with issuing settlement payments. Over 70 departments are responsible for providing detailed information on the individual payments to the State Controller. We expect the settlement payments to be mailed soon.

SEIU Local 1000 represents nearly 100,000 state employees, both members and non-members alike. As our membership grows, our Union becomes stronger, and more state employees are taking advantage of the benefits of membership.

Our Union negotiates for our contract, and enforcing the contract is a Local 1000 priority.

When management violates our contract, or one of our represented employees faces discipline or other job-related issues, there are differences in the type of support and representation offered to Union members vs. non-members. Here are some examples:
