Nurses Make a Difference: Anytime, Anywhere–Always

Every year, from May 6 to May 12 (Florence Nightingale’s birthday), we honor nurses everywhere for the irreplaceable role they play in our health and the health of our communities. SEIU Local 1000-represented Registered Nurses in Unit 17 work tirelessly across California to provide essential services to some of the most vulnerable populations in our state, in some of the most taxing and hectic workplaces.

Join Us as in Commemorating Asian-Pacific Islander History Month

Each May, we pay tribute to the generations of Asian American and Pacific Islanders who have enriched our nation’s history and are instrumental in its future success. Through the work of our SEIU Local 1000 Asian-Pacific Islander (API) Committee, we hope to ensure that API workers are recognized, valued, and respected.

As we build a stronger, more inclusive union, we need to reflect the social, economic, and political goals of API state workers in our fight, while developing API member leaders in our worksites and in our communities.

Union bargaining is a transformative moment for our members and represented employees. It is the highest expression of the collective efforts of state workers to build power in their workplaces. But even with our Bargaining Unit Negotiating Committees (BUNC) at the table, our day-to-day work of representing workers on the job continues in real time.

The Fight for a Fair Contract Continues

After our bargaining team proposed a 30% general salary increase and 100% paid health care coverage, negotiations with the State continue with a focus on the voices and expertise of our members at the table. While our Bargaining Unit Negotiating Committees (BUNCs) work on rollovers and new language for each SEIU Local 1000-represented unit, our leadership is drawing on the energy and demands of workers across the state.
