Local 1000 to host Lassen County California Correctional Center Closure & Union Rights Protest

Governor Newsom has abused his authority and violated SEIU Local 1000’s Union Contract with the State of California by not providing the Union with 30 days’ notice prior to signing off on mandates and refusing to meet and confer on other issues.

In addition, the Governor plans on closing the California Correctional Center in Lassen County ending the careers of many of your Union brothers and sisters.

As Union members, WE MUST ACT NOW AND TELL GOVERNOR NEWSOM WE WILL STAND UP FOR OUR RIGHTS!

DHCS Telework Meet and Confer
Update

On July 27, 2021, SEIU Local 1000 meet with Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) about their permanent telework policy. DHCS stated that they will be moving from the emergency policy to a permanent telework policy at the end of August 2021.

COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Program

On Monday, April 12, 2021, FEMA will officially begin accepting applications for funeral assistance for deaths that occurred as a result of COVID-19. For a death to be considered for funeral assistance, it must have occurred after January 2020.  Feel free to share with others who may benefit from this assistance. 

Eligible applicants may apply by calling 844-684-6333 or TTY: 800-462-7585 toll free, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Board of Directors Meeting Recap

Our SEIU Local 1000 Board of Directors held its first virtual meeting—using videoconferencing technology—on Saturday, July 11, 2020. The switch to a virtual meeting ensured the safety of the participants while allowing the business of the union to continue.
