Member Action Helps Preserve Health Care for Millions

Notification

Our members’ efforts to protect the Affordable Care Act (ACA) paid off as the dangerous effort to “repeal and replace” the ACA was ultimately voted down in the senate on July 27.

The final vote preserves vital health care coverage for millions of families and marks a major victory for members who are stepping into their leadership and taking action.

Read the statement from President Yvonne R. Walker.

It’s just a part of the resistance actions members are participating in across the state. We’re talking to people in our communities about the threats to our families coming from politicians who don’t have our best interests in mind.

We’re fed up with an economic and political system that’s rigged against us, and we’re demanding that our local congressional representatives stand with our communities and not with greedy corporations.

Throughout the year, Local 1000 members have made calls to hold lawmakers accountable and to fight against attacks on our health care, our collective bargaining rights, immigrants’ rights and our environment.

“I’m proud to be a member of a union who’s working to hold self-interested politicians accountable. We’re making sure that politics matter for every working family and building stronger communities at the same time.”
