San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) LVN-to-RN Apprenticeship Information

We are excited to announce that we are again accepting applications for the LVN-to-RN Apprenticeship Program at San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC).  First launched in 2015, this program has been our longest running apprenticeship, and we are excited to see its continuation.  This apprenticeship was developed as a collaborative effort by SEIU Local 1000, California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS), and SJDC to provide meaningful upward mobility to LVNs in working in the correctional environment. Additionally, many of the costs associated with participation in this apprenticeship program are covered by funding from SEIU HCAP, removing the financial burden many working learners face when returning to school. 

We are excited to announce that we are again accepting applications for the RCC LVN to RN Apprenticeship Program.  This application period will be open from April 19 through May 3, 2023, the program will launch in August 2023.

  • California Health Care Facility
  • California Medical Facility
  • California State Prison – Sacramento
  • California State Prison – Solano
  • Folsom State Prison
  • Mule Creek State Prison
  • San Quentin State Prison
  • Sierra Conservation Center
  • Valley State Prison

Our contract language provides partial time off work without loss of pay (“20/20 time”) for apprentices to participate in classes and clinicals.  Grant funding from SEIU HCAP will cover most of the costs associated with participation in this apprenticeship program alleviating the financial burden many working learners face when returning to school.

Applications must be received by CCHCS no later than 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
