Bargaining Unit 1 – R&R Committee
Recruitment and Retention Committee 5.17.1 Contract Implementation

Post

Introduction to Application

Recruitment and Retention (R&R) (Article 5.17.1) is a victorious win for SEIU Local 1000 members. The purpose of this R&R is to provide a platform for the state and the Union to jointly come to a consensus on recruitment and retention issues that are impacting the classification and jointly bring them to the attention of the Director of CalHR and the Administration.

The original Recruitment and Retention (R&R) language restricted classifications which had been through the CSI process or who had received prior SSAs from being considered for the R&R process. During the most recent contract negotiations, the CSI and SSA language was removed, thus removing restrictions on eligibility. All classifications will now have the opportunity to submit applications for the R&R process consideration.

An application and a benefits worksheet will be completed online by each applicant. Each application will be reviewed by a team of Unit 1 Classification Bargaining Unit Representatives (CBURs) and a list of 10 classification series will be selected for a joint review with CalHR. Selection of a classification for review does not guarantee a special salary adjustment.

Applications must be completed and submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
