Caltrans District 4 Layoffs
Update as of April 20, 2021

Post

Last week, we met with Caltrans and CalHR for the first time regarding the Caltrans District 4 Toll Collectors and Custodians Layoffs. We confirmed that all permanent employees impacted were given SROA status and that CalHR will be working with Caltrans to set up individual options meetings very soon.

We pushed for Caltrans to provide as much assistance and help as possible, including skills assessments, experts with BATA, CalPERS, Savings+, and EDD be brought in for employees, interpersonal skills and mock interviews, as well as  resume building workshops and up-to-date performance reviews. We are also reviewing what positions impacted employees qualify for, what positions are vacant within Caltrans District 4, and what resources are available to help impacted employees transfer into those positions. We are looking to schedule our next meeting with the State in early May and will continue to explore all options as we push for the best outcome for all impacted employees.

We will hold another informational meeting for Toll Collectors and Custodians via Zoom in the near future. Please look for that upcoming meeting update, and please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, or want to share any information.
