DMV LOD Employee Expectations Memo
Bargaining Units 1 & Bargaining Units 4

Post

On Monday, October 25, 2021, SEIU Local 1000 (the Union) met with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to meet and discuss over the Licensing Operations Division (LOD) Employee Expectations Memo, where DMV member-leaders ensured represented employees’ voices were heard.

  • DMV is mainly focused on meeting operational needs. DMV-represented employees need to be proactive in advocating for themselves. Employees should always start by communicating with their direct supervisor and follow the chain of command accordingly to address issues.
  • It is vital for all DMV employees to know your Contract/MOU. Here are relevant sections of the Contract/MOU related to the expectations memo:

    • 2.1 Union Representation
    • ARTICLE 8 – LEAVES
      • 8.1      Vacation/Annual Leave
      • 8.2      Sick Leave
      • 8.3      Bereavement Leave
      • 8.14    Jury Duty
      • 8.16    Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
    • Reasonable Accommodation related MOU sections:
      • 8.18    Work and Family Participation
      • 9.14    Temporarily Disabled Employees
    • Performance Evaluation, Development and Training:
      • 13.1    Performance and Evaluation Materials
      • 13.5    Individual Development Plan
      • 13.10.1 Education and Training (Unit 1)
      • 13.11.4 Upward Mobility and Training (Unit 4)
    • ARTICLE 19 – HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME
      • 19.1    Hours of Work
      • 19.13.1 Overtime Assignments for Work Week Group 2 (WWG 2) Employees (Unit 1)
      • 19.13.4 Overtime Assignments for Work Week Group 2 (WWG 2) Employees (Unit 4)

There was no agreement made between the Union and DMV regarding implementing the LOD Employee Expectations Memo. The Union voiced concerns and mitigated negative impact as much as possible.
