DMV ROD Suspension of Telework
Bargaining Unit 4

Post

On Friday, October 29, 2021, our Union met with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to meet and confer regarding the Registration Operations Division’s (ROD) suspension of telework. The meeting focused on maintaining health and safety for all represented employees through the transition back to the office full time.

DMV is not prepared for the work of ROD to be done virtually, specifically in terms of information security. As in, DMV is not prepared to make hard copy work virtual work at this time. There is a possibility for this to change in the future.

If an employee has a need for any kind of Reasonable Accommodation, such as a medical condition that makes them a high risk for COVID, whether an emergency situation or more long term, DMV will work with employees to address these issues.

A denial for a Reasonable Accommodation should be in writing from the DMV Health and Safety Coordinator; a verbal denial is not acceptable. If you are not able to get your questions answered regarding Reasonable Accommodation directly from your managers, contact DMV Reasonable Accommodation at dmvreasonableaccommo@dmv.ca.gov

DMV Intranet is constantly being updated for COVID 19 safety protocols. If anyone is having concerns about any of these protocols being followed at their worksite and cannot address them directly with their managers, they should contact the DMV Health and Safety unit at dmvhealthsafetyprog@dmv.ca.gov or call 916.657.6593.

This table will remain open so the Union can continue to address issues with DMV arising from ROD employees being at the office full time, particularly around health and safety. If you are having issues related to maintaining health and safety and/or with a reasonable accommodation process, please contact the SEIU Local 1000 Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866.471.SEIU (7348) or contact the Unit 4 inbox unit4@seiu1000.org
