A Letter about SEIU Local 1000 Governance from Board Chair Bill Hall

Since your member-elected Board of Directors acted to reform the governance of SEIU Local 1000 two weeks ago, your leadership team is back to work, united and strong. 

We are laser-focused on fighting for what matters to you: better wages, essential worker pay, dignity in the workplace, leadership development, economic and racial justice for all, and a fair telework agreement with the California Department of Human Resource (CalHR)

To that end, we’ve already accelerated our efforts to prepare for contract talks with the State, and have undertaken home visits to bolster membership.

In the coming days and weeks, we will be providing continual updates on our work on those issues that we raised in our recent forum with membership and our weekly Tuesday night discussion with Stewards, “Speak On It.” And rest assured we will be transparent about the progress we are making.

This structure includes checks and balances to prevent abuses of power. We believe it better serves our membership and will make us a more effective union. We’re working hard to restore your faith in Local 1000 through actions that benefit you and your family and appreciate your continued support.
