More Opportunities for LVN-to-RN Apprenticeships Announced

Post

SEIU Local 1000, in partnership with CCHCS and Sacramento City College, is recruiting for new applicants to the LVN-to-RN Apprenticeship Program.

This apprenticeship allows LVNs to retain their permanent positions while gaining the requisite skills and competencies to become an RN through a combination of classroom theory, clinical experience and on-the-job training. Many of the costs associated with participation in this apprenticeship program, including tuition, are covered by a California Apprenticeship Initiative Grant.

Participation in this apprenticeship program is presently reserved for LVNs working at California Medical Facility, CSP-Sacramento, CSP-Solano, Folsom State Prison, and San Quentin State Prison.

Local 1000 is a pioneer in offering new and innovative apprentice programs. In addition to nursing, we also currently offer upward mobility opportunities in financial services and information technology.

Apprenticeships couple on-the-job training with related study and instruction in order to increase workers’ skills and allow them to be more competitive in the job market. At the same time, workers continue to receive income, avoiding financial barriers that otherwise would prevent them from attaining education and new skills.

Applications for the Sacramento City College LVN-to-RN Apprenticeship Program are due to CCHCS by 5:00 p.m. on December 18, 2020.
