New Interactive DLC Map Brings Speed and Accessibility to Union Representation

Post

With our newly updated District Labor Council (DLC) map on seiu1000.org, it’s never been easier to access essential information about your union and leadership that allow you to get more involved in the important work that impacts all SEIU Local 1000 represented employees.

Each District Labor Council represents a particular region of the state, operating as a chapter of Local 1000. Each DLC represents a collection of worksites in a particular region. This local regional division for each DLC means they can focus on particular issues in workplaces in that area, and by addressing issues locally, we can share knowledge and resources throughout our union and across the state. DLC Leaders are responsible for moving union programs, engaging members, and building the power of our union in their local area.

DLCs are also the structure for local representation of SEIU Local 1000 members to democratically run our union. As a member, you get updates from your elected DLC leadership that helps you stay informed about what’s going on day-to-day in your union, and how to participate in DLC elections or getting involved as a job steward and make sure your voice is heard on issues that impact you. There are 51 District Labor Councils (including the State Bar) within SEIU Local 1000, and each DLC president sits on the Local 1000 Board of Directors.

Our DLC Map is intended to help members who want to become more knowledgeable about their union and how they can get involved locally. The web app, hosted on the SEIU Local 1000 website, allows members to search by DLC number, department, worksite address, or county to find a DLC of interest, as well as using the interactive map to show county locations of DLCs across the state.

Each listing for an individual DLC includes that DLC’s Executive Board, as well as a list of department worksites within that DLC and access to a calendar of upcoming events.  If you need help determining your District Labor Council, please call the SEIU Local 1000 Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866.471.SEIU (7348).
