SEIU Local 1000 LVN-to-RN Pre-apprenticeship Opportunities!

Are you looking to join the LVN to RN Apprenticeship Program and obtain the education and skills to become a Registered Nurse, but lack the some of the difficult to obtain prerequisite coursework?  The CCHCS and SEIU Local 1000 LVN to RN Pre-apprenticeship Program is aimed at supporting LVNs in participating facilities throughout the state prepare to enter their target nursing apprenticeship program.

This year, we are looking to register a new cohort in the established LVN to RN Pre-apprenticeship Program in partnership with San Joaquin Delta College, Sacramento City College, and Riverside City College!  SEIU Local 1000’s efforts secured California Apprenticeship Initiative (CAI) grant funding provided by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) to establish a Pre-apprenticeship Program that will academically prepare LVNs for their targeted nursing apprenticeship program. 

The program will help LVNs complete the science prerequisite and nursing transition coursework required for admission to an Associate’s Degree in Nursing program.  Tuition will be covered by the grant and books may also be loaned; paid release time may be provided to support academic success. Additionally, once LVNs complete all coursework requirements for the apprenticeship program, they will be eligible to receive a one-time reimbursement for nursing school entrance exam fees (either ATI TEAS or Riverside City College’s HESI exam, depending on the requirements of the targeted college). This program will be offered to LVNs working in the participating institutions listed below:
