Pop-up Vaccination Clinic Epitomizes Local 1000 Values; Second Clinic Set for May 13, 14, and 15

On April 15, 16, 17, SEIU Local 1000 partnered with the State of California to host a pop-up vaccination clinic at our 1325 S Street Union Hall and provide 1323 vaccinations over the three days to state workers and the general public.

“A core element of our mission at Local 1000 is to give our members—and ALL Californians—the opportunity to have a good life, live in sustainable communities, and enjoy the fruits of social, economic, and environmental justice,” said Yvonne R. Walker, SEIU Local 1000 President. “But none of that can happen without good health. After over 13 months fighting this pandemic, nothing represents good health more than vaccinations. So, we saw this as the perfect time to thank the people who have helped keep the State running over the past year and to celebrate their hard work by ensuring their safety and the safety of the entire state.”

The State worked with Color Health, a genetic-testing company, to administer doses of the Moderna vaccine each day, and we’ll be doing it again from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on May 13, 14, and 15. Anyone still looking to get vaccinated who has yet to register should visit myturn.ca.gov and look for “SEIU Sacramento” to make an appointment.
