SEIU Local 1000 Puts State on Notice of Worker Complaints About COLOR Testing

Post

When SEIU Local 1000 received complaints from workers at the Department of Rehabilitation and Department of Motor Vehicles regarding management’s flawed information about COVID testing protocols — both of which utilize COLOR testing services — the Union put the State on notice. In spite of months of implementation time, State managers continue to offer inconsistent or incorrect information regarding the testing process and protections and fail to direct employees to CalHR’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on testing and verification. Despite the FAQs, many state supervisor have no correct information to provide to employees about standards concerning use, collection, or storage of personal information. The Union’s ongoing objection and request to cease and desist these inconsistent and flawed directions regarding personal data collections demands an immediate response from CalHR. With this letter, SEIU Local 1000 further objects to faulty implementation at department levels without regard to the impact on maintaining consistent privacy rights, protections, and safeguards for all workers.
