Unit 1 Bargaining Update for Monday, August 5th, 2019
Unit 1 Signs 9 Tentative Agreements; Protects IT Apprenticeship Program

Post

Local 1000’s Unit 1 bargaining team returned to the table on Monday, August 5, 2019 and continued to make progress by signing 9 Tentative Agreements (TA). Five of the TA’s were “roll-over” provisions from the current contract, while the other four were technical or clean up language change proposals that were agreed upon.

One provision the team prioritized at the bargaining table was protecting the IT Apprenticeship Committee, which has provided numerous Sacramento-area Local 1000 IT specialists with professional development and upward mobility opportunities. The joint committee is comprised of state representatives and union members and oversees the development of apprenticeship standards, functions and responsibilities.

The bargaining team also was able to secure clean up language related to the reorganization of the Board of Equalization (BOE) into two new agencies — the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration and the Office of Tax Appeals. The changes capture and recognize the two new departments as a result of the BOE reorganization.

“We’re making progress towards protecting current contract language,” said Susan Rodriguez, Chair of Unit 1. “But we need Unit 1 members to continue taking worksite action statewide to help us win a great contract.”

Our Unit 1 team returns to the bargaining table on Wednesday, August 7th to continue the fight for a California for All.
