Women’s History Month
In honor of Women’s History Month, our Women’s Empowerment Committee Chair, Tracie Kimbrough is celebrating the life and legacy of Eva Peron.
Eva Peron or ‘Evita’
1919 – 1952
Eva was a powerful political figure amongst working class trade union members who inspired millions with her campaigns to help the poor and give women the right to vote. Her supporters said she was a saint who strove to overcome poverty and injustice.
“I demanded more rights for women because I know what women had to put up with.”
Peron remains an important symbol of emancipation, especially for women in Latin America. She was one of the first women to create a lasting political / humanitarian legacy. One woman can make a difference.
