Good afternoon -

It’s an exciting time for Local 1000.

This week, we launched a month-long effort to meet with our represented employees in their workplace, and I’m already energized by the state workers who are joining us as we ramp up to bargaining a new contract.

Our Regional Organizing Committees (ROCs) have scheduled more than 130 worksite visits in March to talk to you and to build the support necessary to win, and I hope you’ll take the time to meet with your coworkers and Local 1000 ROC stars.

Good afternoon –

One of the chief priorities we are currently addressing is Union governance, specifically what it looks like in the future to ensure our growth and success. To meet that goal, the first meeting of our Committee of The Future (CTF) will be held on March 16. CTF is comprised of 23 Union members—regional and statewide leaders—working to create an improved Local 1000 that will both serve our members’ needs and win at the bargaining table. The Committee will be led by consultant Kurt Edelman.

Good afternoon –

As we prepare to kick off the first of our seven scheduled Town Halls this Saturday in Sacramento, I’m excited by all of the activity around our headquarters as we prepare to gather in person again. I’m also encouraged by the reservation numbers we’re already seeing. If you have not done so already, be sure to reserve your space for a Town Hall near you, and let us know what you want to see in our upcoming contract.

Good afternoon –

I want to extend my personal wishes to all state employees, members, and staff of SEIU Local 1000 as 2022 winds to a close.  Local 1000 has made great progress in 2022 in preparation for our 2023 contract and meeting your expectations as members.  Your Board of Directors, the three Vice Presidents and myself understand and live your hardships; we are state employees who work under the same contract as you.
