Welcome to the new version of Union
Update!
Our new, all-digital version of Union Update was created to bring our Union together and to keep us informed while so many of us are working remotely and working to stay in touch. Join us each week, and we’ll keep you informed about the issues that affect your work, your family, and the communities you live in.
Member-political activist steps up to make change happen
Our latest Text-a-thon with the Purple Text program sent out over 760,000 text messages in just two days. Leading the way was Nicole Crist, a Local 1000 Steward, who sent out over 118,000 messages personally during the month.
Apprenticeship program creating new career opportunities for members
Upward mobility is a union value, and Local 1000 continues to create new and innovative apprenticeship program opportunities for members.
Apprenticeships couple on-the-job training with related study and instruction in order to increase workers’ skills and allow them to be more competitive in the job market. At the same time, workers continue to receive their full income, avoiding financial barriers that otherwise would prevent them from obtaining needed education and new skills.

We can win in November. Become a political volunteer today!
The upcoming elections and ballot initiatives this fall will be among the most important political decisions our country has made in a generation. Beginning the week of October 5th and ending on November 3rd, Californians will make decisions ranging from who will represent us in the State Legislature to whether your city has the power to stop out-of-control rent hikes.
Member Resource Center Returns to Live Calls
Like so many employers in the State of California, Local 1000 employees have been teleworking, including our Member Resource Center.
This week, our call center has returned to answering live calls after we created a safe environment for our work to continue.
You can call them at 866.471.SEIU (7348), Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
