Big news for California state workers: Cecelia Wilson has been elected as the new State Member Representative on the CalPERS Board.
But this is more than just a new title. It means state workers now have someone at the table who truly understands the work, the challenges, and the importance of protecting our retirement security.
WHO IS CECELIA?
Cecelia Wilson is an Information Technology Professional with the California Department of Education and brings more than 36 years of CalPERS-covered service to the role.
She’s also one of us:
✔ SEIU Local 1000 member
✔ DLC 764 President
✔ Union steward
✔ Longtime advocate for state workers
Cecelia has spent decades standing up for workers on the job and in our union. Now she’ll help represent hundreds of thousands of public employees and retirees on one of the most important boards affecting our future.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
CalPERS decisions impact the retirement security of state workers across California. Having a fellow state worker on the Board means having someone who understands firsthand:
• What public service really looks like
• The importance of protecting pensions
• The realities workers face every day
• Why our voices deserve representation where decisions are made
Representation matters, especially when it comes to safeguarding the benefits workers have earned through years of public service.
Congratulations, Cecelia! We’re proud to see a union member, steward, and state worker bringing our perspective directly to the CalPERS Board.
