Civil Service Career Exploration Program
We are very excited to announce the first application period for the Civil Service Career Exploration Program Pilot! This program is a partnership between SEIU Local 1000 and the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), which aims to provide state employees represented by SEIU Local 1000 with structured career development and opportunities to enhance their skillset within their current positions. Through this program, participants are provided with the opportunity to obtain the skills required to enhance success within their current occupations, while exposing them to content that may be a part of our Financial Services Apprenticeship and IT Apprenticeships. The program curriculum will cover topics such as Information Technology, Business English, and Accounting, in addition to others depending on the program track. The Civil Service Career Exploration Program Pilot is intended for participants who have not previously had the opportunity to obtain the prescribed education outlined for this program.
If selected, participants will begin coursework in October 2023 and will complete the program within two consecutive academic terms online at American River College. During this time, participants will complete the prescribed program curriculum delivered online by American River College. At the conclusion of the program, participants will obtain valued skills and knowledge which can be applied to their current occupation while exposing them to new industries which may be of future interest to them within State Service.
How to apply:
In order to apply, you must complete and submit your application to the Civil Service Career Exploration Program Pilot Application no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 21, 2023. In order to apply, you must do the following:
1. Apply to American River College for the Fall 2023 semester.
2. Complete the Online Apprenticeship Application
Classes are scheduled to being in October 2023.
