Our sisters and brothers at SEIU Local 99 are mobilizing alongside educators from United Teachers Los Angeles to defend education workers, students, and families across Los Angeles. We invite SEIU Local 1000 members in LA County to join them in solidarity at the Fight for LA Rally.

School districts across Los Angeles are pushing layoffs and cuts that target classified workers and weaken our schools. At the same time, teachers are being forced to fight for the basic resources students deserve.
The attacks don’t stop there. Proposed federal childcare cuts threaten families, providers, and our youngest learners.
These are not accidents—they are choices. When districts attack classified workers, students lose critical support. When teachers are under-resourced, classrooms suffer. When childcare funding is threatened, families and providers pay the price.
That’s why workers are coming together to demand:

No layoffs

Increased hours for all workers

Wages above the poverty level

No subcontracting of union jobs

More staffing for student services
This is about protecting good union jobs and ensuring students and families get the support they deserve.
