Whenever a crisis hits, working people stand up for each other and fight for change. As New York City is impacted by wildfire smoke, a situation very familiar to any Californian, companies were unprepared or unwilling to provide the protection needed to their workers. Delivery drivers organizing with Los Deliveristas Unidos began reaching out and having conversations with workers on the street and were able to take action to protect those who keep life moving in America’s largest city.

Workers in Southern California’s largest hotel union, Unite Here Local 11, just voted by an overwhelming majority to authorize a strike. If it proceeds, this will be the largest strike by hotel workers in modern US history. While the economy continues to squeeze the most vulnerable workers in our country and the cost of living in California continues to rise unchecked, working people are standing up for their right to strike.
