Regional Officer Elections – Results Announced!

We are pleased to announce the results of the Regional Officer Elections held on August 17, 2024. These elections are crucial for strengthening our leadership and ensuring effective representation across all regions. Below are the results for both uncontested and contested regions, including the nominees and the elected officers.

Election Results

Uncontested Regions

In the following regions, only one nominee emerged by August 16, and therefore, the nominee has been automatically elected without the need for a Zoom election:

  • Region 5 – Central California: Tommy Rico, DLC 771
  • Region 6 – Southern California 1: Christina Calugcugan, DLC 724
  • Region 7 – Southern California 2: Miche’ Roy, DLC 705

Contested Regions

The following regions held elections via Zoom or hybrid format. Here are the nominees and the elected Regional Officers:

  • Region 1 – Sacramento 1:
    • Nominees: Nicole Crist, Irene Green, Josh Guile
    • Elected Officer: Irene Green
  • Region 2 – Sacramento 2:
    • Nominees: Heather Kessler, Shrhonda Ward
    • Elected Officer: Shrhonda Ward
  • Region 3 – Northern California:
    • Nominees: Sheila Coonan, Frankie Luallen, Laura Slavec
    • Elected Officer: Sheila Coonan
  • Region 4 – Bay Area:
    • Nominees: Christina Evitt, Kevin Healy, Richard Turner

Key Details

Nominations: Open until 5 p.m. on August 16, 2024.

Vote Date: August 17, 2024.

Format: Most elections will be held via Zoom, except for the LA region (Norwalk), where they will be held as a hybrid event, allowing both in-person and Zoom participation on that day.

Automatic Election: If only one nominee emerges in a region by August 16, that nominee will be automatically elected, and no Zoom election will be required for that region.

Election Oversight

The Election Committee, consisting of Steven Alari (DLC 723), Cherish Bell (DLC 703), and Jennifer Cordova (DLC 764) will oversee the election process to ensure fairness and transparency.

Nomination and Voting Process

Eligibility: Only DLC Presidents are eligible to nominate and vote.

Nominations:

  • Submit nominations to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on August 16.
  • Nominations for each region will be posted and updated on this election webpage.

Meeting and Presentations:

  • An Election Committee member will start the meeting and give each candidate two minutes to present their case.
  • Zoom Elections: Most regions will vote via a confidential Zoom poll, conducted by staff and observed by an Election Committee member.
  • Hybrid Election in Norwalk: The LA region will hold a hybrid election, with both in-person and Zoom voting options available. This election will be supervised by an Election Committee member.

Voting Rules

  • A majority vote is required to elect a Regional Officer.
  • If more than two candidates are running, the candidate with the fewest votes will be eliminated in each round until a majority is achieved.
  • Ties will be resolved by lot.

Role of Regional Officers

Elected Regional Officers will represent their regions and serve on the Officers’ Committee. Their roles include acting as liaisons between DLC Presidents and the Executive Committee, enhancing communication, and ensuring effective program implementation.
