Bargaining Unit 21, the unit representing our Educational Consultants, Librarians, Archivists, and Specialists, met with the State twice this week: on Monday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 29 for unit-specific negotiations.
Starting off strong, Unit 21 protected current rights and reached a successful tentative agreement (TA) with the State covering 14 sections of the contract, including:

- 13.12.21 Employment Opportunities
- 13.18.21 Professional Assessment and Development Committees
- 14.4.21 Duty Statements, Post Orders, and Work Instructions
- 19.28.21 Reduced Work Time
- 21.17.21 Recognition of Authorship
- 21.24.21 Job Related Conferences and Conventions

As Unit 21 Chair Bobby Roy stated, “The progress we have already made is a testament to our Unit’s professionalism as deliberate, intentional, and efficient.”

These conversations are critical to protecting our FLSA-exempt status and maintaining the professional standards of our classifications. We will continue to have further discussions with the State regarding these topics.
