THE IMPORTANCE OF COPE?

 Members of this committee must keep informed of the union’s legislative and political programs; including those of the SEIU California State Council, the Central Labor Council, Change to Win, The California Federation of Labor, the International Union and the Association. COPE promotes union voter registration drives, encourages membership participation in grassroots campaigns, propositions, legislation, candidate recommendations, and other issues. This committee makes recommendations to the Local 1000 Council.

Every day, elected officials in California make decisions that impact the lives of California state workers. Each election cycle, corporations, millionaires, and their special interest groups pour millions of dollars into efforts that want to rollback our hard- earned benefits such as our right to collectively bargain, and have a secure retirement.
Because of these well-funded attacks, it’s essential for us to build our collective power. COPE is a fund that allows us to elect state-worker champions and hold them accountable.
