Providing Real Representation for our Members is a Local 1000 Priority
Having a strong union means having the power to protect our rights and enforce our contract, and our online search tool allows our members easy-to-use access to the hundreds of contract articles that govern our wages, benefits, and working conditions.
Throughout the year, our members, working in concert with front-line job stewards and our Union Resource Center, pushed back against contract violations. We often reported wins on behalf of a good number of the 100,000 state employees we represent.
Advancing Access and Equity: Honoring National Disability Employment Awareness Month
In October, Americans observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month by paying tribute to the accomplishments of the men and women with disabilities whose work helps keep the nation’s economy strong and by reaffirming their commitment to ensure equal opportunity for all citizens.
Celebrating the rich history of LGBT progress across the years
LGBT History Month is a month-long celebration of the history of the diverse and beautiful lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community and the importance of civil rights movements in progressing gay rights. Our SEIU Local 1000 Purpose Statement encourages us to pursue social justice for all Californians, and we join proudly in this month-long celebration.
Closure Update: LVN Classification added to CAC closure mitigation
We recently learned from CCHCS that they have expanded their In-County mitigation process related to the closure of CAC to include employees in the LVN classification. Inclusion of LVNs in this process means that the LVN classification will not be part of the layoff process when CAC closes as there are enough vacancies in Kern County for impacted LVNs to fill so all impacted LVNs will be placed at a different facility in Kern County.
