In 2021, 215 unmarked graves were discovered at a former Indian Boarding School in Canada. Since then, more than 11,000 Indigenous children’s remains have been located, and the search in the United States is only just beginning.
The Orange Shirt movement and the number 215 have become symbols of remembrance and awareness for the tragic legacy of Indian Boarding Schools.
NASEIU and IPC stand in solidarity with this movement. We are committed to honoring our children, supporting the search, and ensuring their remains are brought home to their communities and homelands.
