Unit 15 Statewide Custodian JLMC Meeting
Update from March 29 Meeting

Post

On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, our Union’s Bargaining Unit 15 Statewide Custodian JLMC had its first meeting with California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), Department of General Services (DGS), California Department of Veteran Affairs (CalVet), Department of State Hospitals (DSH), and California Prison Authority (CalPIA) to address issues Custodians are experiencing across the state. We covered the following issues:

  • Shoe Allowance
  • Uniforms
  • Workload Distribution

This was the first Custodian JLMC meeting in several years and is one of several to be scheduled throughout 2022. This was an introductory meeting where ground work was laid out to address priority issues for the Custodian classification across the State.

“We learned from DGS that staffing buildings is based on the historical needs for cleaning the building. This is something that needs to be updated and we will be addressing in future meetings” ~ Alfredo Cortez, Custodian JLMC Chair.

If you are having issues with receiving your shoe allowance, acquiring a uniform and/or workload distribution, please reach out with your concerns by contacting either the SEIU Local 1000 Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866-471-7348 (SEIU) or the Unit 15 inbox unit15@seiu1000.org

The Custodian JLMC team is led by Alfredo Cortez along with Michael Hendrix, Efrain “Frank” Higuera and Karen Maddox-Long. To learn more about your Custodian JLMC Team, click here.
