This week, your Unit 11 Bargaining Team continued pushing for stronger protections, fair compensation and better recognition for the critical work Unit 11 members perform every day.

Some of the key issues discussed this week included:

  • Drug and Alcohol Testing Protections
We reached a tentative agreement with the State on issues related to drug and alcohol testing language in the contract. The agreement helps align current practices with federal regulations while also supporting less invasive testing procedures for impacted workers.
  • Fair Compensation for Specialized Work
We continued pushing proposals tied to additional compensation and differentials for members performing specialized duties.
  • Pushing Back on Scheduling Abuses
We challenged the State’s rejection of a proposal related to “double-back” scheduling concerns impacting Department of Food and Agriculture workers. We will continue pushing for stronger protections against the routine use of “operational need” scheduling practices that negatively impact workers.

While some progress was made this week, the State still has not responded to several key economic proposals previously presented by our bargaining team. We will continue pressing the State for meaningful movement on the financial issues Unit 11 members care about most while defending the workplace rights and protections members have fought hard to secure over the years.
