On March 4, 2026, SEIU Local 1000 met with CalHR and CDCR management to get answers regarding how overtime pay is now being calculated for impacted Self-Help Sponsor (SHS) members. During the meeting, questions were raised about the differences between the old method versus the new method of calculating overtime for SHS members. The state did not appear to fully understand the loss of compensation that resulted from the implementation of this new policy. Your union is currently working to schedule a second meeting to seek further clarification, as the state was unable to address questions regarding the financial impact or workflow implications created by this policy.
We are actively working to resolve any confusion or discrepancies related to how the new overtime pay is being calculated for the SHS classification. In the next meeting, our team will dive deeper into the policy and discuss how it is being implemented for impacted members.
For any additional questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact the Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866-471-7348 or email us at [email protected]. Our team will gather relevant feedback to bring forward during the second meeting.
In solidarity,
Unit 20
