Dear Bargaining Unit 1 Employees,

On Thursday February 20th, the Unit 1 Analyst Reclass team met again with CalHR, and submitted their first proposal to the State. This first proposal included the following areas that demonstrate the value and work our members provide to the State. The first proposal included:

  • A raise in base pay along with differentials and incentives for specialized credentials and post-bachelor degrees
  • Ensure probationary periods are not increased because of this reclassification
  • Ensure employees will be able to use specialized titles, and highlight their specialized skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Ensure no harm is done to employees regarding anniversary dates, probationary dates, lead responsibilities, or limited term assignments
  • An expedited appeal process for the reclassification placements

This is the first proposal in the process, and we anticipate a long back and forth with CalHR before they submit their recommended reclassification structure to the State Personnel Board (SPB) for approval. As we continue the fight this process, we are committed to the fight and will push to ensure fair and equitable pay for the work our analyst members do for the state,

“It is more important now that those impacted by this Notice become members. It shows the State that we are “ALL” committed to the fight.” – Susan Rodriguez, SEIU Local 1000 Chief Negotiator and Bargaining Unit 1 chairperson.

We are planning our next meeting in the coming months and expect CalHR to provide their first counter proposal at our next meeting.
